I got an email yesterday from someone asking about the monetization program and they explained to me that they did not really understand the concept of usage ratio, after all, isn’t what is most important in app making getting your Android app downloaded? Well guys, let me tell you one thing, downloads for your Android app are not the be all and end all, usage ratio is in fact a lot more important and today I am going to explain why.
What is usage ratio and why is it important?
Usage ratio is important for two main reasons:
1: Usage means success– You can get good feedback about the quality of your app by the usage ratio of the app. Let me be clear, if your app is useless then it won’t be used, if the app is being used then it means that your Android app is hitting the right spot and making your users happy.
2: Big bucks– Your app is making money from the advertising space that is on the app, if no one is using the app then banners won’t be seen, advertisements won’t be clicked and users will not go through to the links that you have provided and private sponsors will stop paying you for space too. Why should people pay you to advertise their products if no one is seeing the adverts> Time for you to make sure people are on your app often and for a prolonged period of time to make the most money.
Did you know that only 16% of apps in the Android app market are currently being used more than three times by app users? This means there is plenty of space for you to get your app up into the top 16% and this will increase your downloads, usage and positioning in app store rankings.
